Match Report
Highfield School Boys-U11B vs  Edgeborough
On: Wednesday, 13 Nov 2019
Venue: at Home

The weather couldn’t have been better for our first match of the Rugby Season. The ground was soft and there was a slight crispness to the air; enough to encourage plenty of running to keep warm but not so cold as to freeze one’s fingers.
Both teams had only had a couple of training sessions ahead of the match but you wouldn’t have been able to tell that from watching the play. All the boys were keen to run with the ball and to look to tackle the opposition which made for a great battle.
After an initially closely matched opening series of plays the Highfield boys were able to score a couple of unanswered tries and begin to dominate the game in terms of confidence about going on to score more. At half time the score was 4-0 to Highfield which didn’t fairly reflect the closeness of the game up to that point.
After half time the Edgeborough boys came back determined to convert their efforts into points and the game was even more closely matched. Both teams were able to score whilst also making their opponents work harder still to score. Despite having to work harder it was really good to see the standard of play improve; the Edgeborough boys were able to show some great organisation at the ruck whilst Highfield showed some great support running and offloading. The score for the second half was 3-3 which meant that Highfield came away with a 7-3 victory to start their season.
