Match Report
Highfield School 3rd Team vs  Lambrook School
On: Wednesday, 06 Nov 2019
Venue: at Home

For our final match of the season we were up against Lambrook and prepared for a big challenge from a strong team.

To start with things were very evenly matched with both goals under threat and some fairly frantic defending being required. However, as time passed we became more precise and able to play the ball around the park confidently.

Chances came our way but our first goal came from a fumble by the Lambrook keeper after some confusion between two of our players about who should be taking the shot but they all count. This increased our confidence and our next goal was better struck and showed that we were in the ascendency.

The Lambrook boys came back at us hard at the start of the second half and scored a great goal to close the gap. With their tails up we had to work hard to maintain our advantage but we weathered the storm and regained our composure to score twice more before the final whistle.

We therefore finished our season with a well deserved 4-1 victory that had been secured through strong performances throughout the team. Special mentions go to Carlos Perez Sanchez and Javier Martinez Pinel who both played a half for the Lambrook team who only had 8 players and both played to the top of their game whilst doing so.

Today’s scorers were Ben Hall, Carlos Sanchez Perez and George Bird.

The 3rds have been a great team to coach this season with players moving between teams happily and playing in the position needed by the team and not necessarily where they would have chosen for themselves. If the boys have enjoyed the season half as much as I have then they have had a fantastic 8 weeks of football.
